My husband is a complete science geek so I knew this would be a fun gift for him but it turned out to be fun for both of us. It's neat to see all of the circuitry inside the clear box and play with the arcing electricity. The included wire and lights, as well as being able to sync it to music make this item that much more fun. The loud snapping noise concerned me at first and if you have sensitive hearing, just be aware that it can be very loud. Overall, though, a great gift for adults or kids, but particularly kids who have an interest in science, engineering, or anything that's just plain neat!
This little mini Tesla is interesting, it works well from the moment you plug it in with minimal assembly. It would make a neat gift for those that are into electricity, or science in general. I had forgotten the smell of burning air when you use a tesla coil, lol, it took me a sec to realize what was going on. Overall, neat little gadget, but only worth it if you're into that sort of thing.

This is a well constructed Tesla coil that looks nice. I like the flat coil on the top which gives it a nice aesthetic. The base is aluminum which also acts as a heatsink for a couple of transistors. Two gas bulbs are included (one is neon and not sure what the other is, maybe xeon?) that you can use to play around with.
You have the option of putting this into music mode which plays music via Bluetooth, or pulsing mode which creates pulses of sparks. The sound quality of the music mode is not the best when compared to another smaller Tesla coil that I have but it still works well.
I do wish that the frequency could be increased to a higher frequency and get more frequent pulses. You could get around this a bit by using music mode and playing square wave tones of the frequency that you want.
